Why?

My background is in mathematics and computer science. I would like to help students feel more comfortable with the subjects. At the end of the day, I believe learning is something students do and as instructors we just facilitate learning. This is something I learned from my mathematics/education professors at East Texas Baptist University in Texas. It is our duty to motivate students to learn but learning is a process that happens all the time and not just in the presence of an instructor. For example, I distinctly remember the afternoon when I was sitting on my rooftop trying to understand associative, commutative, and distributive properties in mathematics. It didn’t click until I spent that time with myself. I think we need to encourage students to spend that time alone with themselves to foster the love of mathematics.
